You can clear a toilet clog without a plunger. Using this bathroom hack, you can save time and money. You don't need to contact one of our professional plumbers at All Trades. Try this simple DIY method and see if it works for you.
This hack will only work if your toilet is not overflowing. You'll need to add liquid to the bowl, so if you have an overflowing toilet, try the plunger method. If your toilet isn't overflowing but looks like it might, remove some of the water from the bowl before continuing.
Let's begin!
Add generous amounts of shampoo, dish soap, or liquid hand soap to the clogged toilet bowl. If you don't have any of these, go buy some. If it's Christmas Day and every store in town is closed you can cut up a bar of soap into tiny pieces and use that instead.
Add a gallon of very hot water to the toilet bowl. The water should not be boiling, just very hot.
Wait up to 5 minutes and watch. The soapy hot water mix you have created should break up any clogged toilet paper. The soapy water mix also helps the clog slide down through the pipe. Repeat steps 1 and 2 one more time if it doesn't work the first time. If the clog still doesn't clear, unravel a wire clothes hanger and gently work it through the toilet siphon tube to clear the clog.
This guide is intended for those without a plunger on hand. If you have a plunger, use it instead. Clearing a clog with a plunger is much easier and effective. But if you find yourself in a situation without one, this backroom hack just might do the trick!
