World Plumbing Day is March 11th. Didn't know there was a World Plumbing Day? Don't worry, you're not alone. Here at All Trades we missed it too.
World Plumbing Day is a newer holiday. It was established in 2010 by the WPC (the World Plumbing Council). The day celebrates the important role plumbing plays in health and safety of modern society.
Despite its relative obscure status, World Plumbing Day is celebrated at a few places around the world. In Indonesia the IAPMO held an event at an orphanage. They donated backpacks and other school supplies. They also gave a short presentation on the importance of potable water.
In Australia the PICAC (Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre) held a luncheon event, trade show, and even a skills competition. There was also an art exhibition titled, "Water Is Life – International Poster Art Competition."
In Canada the CIPH (Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating) gave a presentation at a local high school about the trade of plumbing.
However, widespread knowledge of World Plumbing Day still flounders. We've marked it on our calendars and will try to remember it next month.
